idea of placements
By participating in such a placement, junior interpreters can improve their professional qualification and can get in touch with potential employers.
application procedure and details about the placement
ini members apply individually for an unpaid placement at international
organisations in Europe. ini members send their application from their ini email account, stating their availability.
Then the organisation decides on the ini member´s application. If the application is accepted, the organisation will ask the ini member to practise in the silent booth. Sometimes a candidate
may also be asked to interpret during certain meetings in the regular booth, but this cannot be assured. A placement usually lasts 2 weeks, but may last up to 3 weeks. Diligent preparation of
meetings before the placement begins is required.
It also cannot be guaranteed that the interpreter's performance is evaluated. However, there may be such an evaluation. If a candidate passes this test, then this freelancer will be included in the
roster of the organisation, so that he/she can receive paid interpretation assignments.
notice
ini never recruits trainees for any organisation: It is left to the organisations to decide whether ini members' applications are accepted.
